"Efficient simulation of stochastic household transmission models"
Many infectious diseases transmit more effectively within a household than in other settings. This presents the opportunity to exploit the inherent household structure when gathering data, fitting models and enacting interventions. A drawback of these models, however, is their computational cost when simulating and fitting, presenting a technical challenge. We present recent progress in this area, and discuss the potential for the use of modelling in considering potential household-based interventions.
